Wilson wins 2nd District GOP primary
by Joe Wilson on June 14, 2008U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson has won his first primary challenge, defeating Phil Black to win the Republican nod in the 2nd District.
Wilson won a special election in 2001 after the death of U.S. Rep. Floyd Spence and had not faced a primary opponent until this year. Wilson represents an area that runs from the center of South Carolina along the Savannah River to the coach below Charleston.
Wilson will face Democratic candidate Rob Miller in November’s general election. Miller defeated Blaine Lotz in the Democratic primary.
Wilson served 17 years in the state Senate before moving into Congress.
