Immigration Reform
by Joe Wilson on June 2, 2009Legal immigration has been the backbone of this country’s success since its beginning. Unfortunately, today illegal immigration harms American taxpayers and workers as well as our national security.
Our first action to combat the problem of illegal immigration is to secure our borders now. We must fully fund and implement the construction of a fence along our southern border as well as give our border patrol agents the tools and technology they need to do their jobs effectively.
To solve the problem that we currently have, we must crack down on employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens to work in their businesses. We must ensure that it is not worthwhile to be caught hiring illegal aliens nor is it the policy of this government to turn its back on this type of activity. To protect employers, the employment verification system must be accurate and virtually instant.
Finally, to address the problems in our legal immigration system, we need to make the process for temporary guest workers more streamlined. We need a system where employers can request the workers they need and our embassies in other countries can fill those requests with sufficient staffing. The workers need to be given a tamperproof ID so employers ensure they are hiring people who are allowed to be in the United States. Lastly, we should use updated technology to ensure workers return home when their visas expire.
Illegal immigrants are just that, illegal. What do you believe should be done about these law breakers. If someone comes into my house uninvited and cleans the floors does the dishes then takes some medicine from my house and takes some food from my house they are criminals and will go to jail. Why are these people that have broken into our country being treated differently then the thief that breaks into a home.
The “illegals” should ALL be escorted back to Mexico. Then we should patrol the borders and NOT allow this to happen anymore. I’m a Texan, hunter and I have a CHP would be willing to volunteer a couple days a month to cover a part of the Tex-Mex border and I’m sure alot of other Texans would do the same. That’s where we need to start.
We MUST have immigration reform NOW. Our entire US security depends on it. We MUST have our laws enforced to protect the Legal citizens of the USA. We also MUST hold Businesses accountable, Fine them heavily, and jail time, for violating our laws on this issue. We also MUST do checks to see who IS here Illegally, and send them back to there OWN country IF they are here Illegally.
although i support what you say I do feel that the problem is too big to solve without setting up some type of amisity to those who have a NCIC check and have no lawenforcement problems to enclude a traffic ticket if so they go back . Local lawenforcement doesn’t touch them they leave it to the feds ICE want a truck load to come and get them , employeers abuse them they work the hell out of them for nothing and charge you as if they are born educated here . These people are good and contrubte a great deal to us so we should figure how to keep the good ones send the bad ones back . Anyway just my thoughts oh i am a ex military and law enforcement officer .
We are trying to do just that. Chuck join http://www.patriotscoalition.com , I am from SC and have ass’t the Border Patrol in TX as a Volunteer. We have many Texans volunteering down at the Border and along the Rio Grand. We have an immigration bill in SC, you all need to fight in TX to get one and make sure that everyone has to be E-Verified, no I-9′s allowed. And make sure the employers are punished for hiring IA’s. We The People can make this happen!
When the Korean War began to wind down, Harry Truman loaded the immigrants on huge ships and sent them to MIDDLE AMERICA, not Mexico. That way, they would not just run back across the boarder. He did this to provide jobs for returning serviceman. Nowadays, we don’t even have anyone that can make a decision to benefit the American citizens and workers, much less carry out a massive program. It’s just talk, discuss, and act big. Most in Congress think they are some kind of God and far above the common people. Harry Truman was a common man, but a great one, and he made many decisions based on the benefits to American workers and citizens and serviceman.
I agree, something must be done. 1. Secure the border today. 2. Enforce the current immigration laws. 3. Identify every illegal in this country and then consider them for leagal visitors. 4. All illegals have broken the law and must be punished. There children should be residents of the country their parents are from and not this country, it only makes it harder to deport them. They should be considered for US citizenship when reaching 18 and then they should get in line.
