Keep Our Families Healthy
by Joe Wilson on October 23, 2009Recently my mother, Roxanne Wilson, contracted the H1N1 flu virus, also known as the swine flu. She is feeling much better now, but her illness reminded my family that it is important to take extra steps to make sure we all stay healthy.
This outbreak has been called an epidemic, but most people do not think that it will affect them or their loved ones. This incident has shown my family how important it is to take precautionary steps – things as simple as washing your hands more often – to prevent ourselves from contracting what could be a significant illness.
This is a serious matter, so as a part of the Wilson family I want to encourage you and your family to get informed and take extra steps to stay healthy.

Nice job, Hunter! Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. Despite living in Colorado for 30 years, have have “sorta-kinda” connections to your family via Blythewood, where I was born and raised. Blair Boozer’s mom and I have been close friends for more than 40 years, and Kellum Allen (one of your dad’s former law partners) is my first cousin. Small world! By the way, your dad rocks!
Dear Congressman Wilson-
You are correct, President Obama lied. Thank you for standing up and “telling the emperor that he had no clothes.” Or were you telling US that he had no clothes….
I am a “near” neighbor from Virginia (in a small town called Poquoson, near NASA Langley), if only we had such brave leaders!
I am 56 years old and I have fears for our country that I have NEVER had before. I am infuriated that I even HAVE such fears. Since 9-11, I have seen the rights granted by our Constitution trampled into the dust. Starting with the Bush years, I also watched wild, runaway deficit spending and ever-mounting debt.
I now see all of these Social-Communist “leaders” in power and I recognize their double-speak for what it is. I have visited several Socialist and Communist countries (back when they were an “Evil Empire”) and I saw how they lived and it was not pretty. When I got off the plane back home, I could “smell” the freedom and it was great! That’s not what I smell now.
I believe that most average Americans believe that there is NO ONE standing up for them in Washington. There is NO ONE willing to make a stand for what is right. There is NO ONE to say, “Stop the crazy spending! You are bankrupting our country!” There is NO ONE to say, “America is a GREAT nation and a GOOD nation, and America will stand strong against the tyrants and terrorists, small and large, who wish to destroy freedom in the world.”
If America falls, who will say NO to Russia,China, Venezuela, and Iran? I am tired of the leaders of those countries openly ridiculing our leaders and our country.
I am tired of those within our country who revile America and seek to destroy it. Our country is not perfect, no country is, but if you look at the overall “worth” of a country – what is stands for, how its citizens fare in their day-to-day lifves, the charity and goodwill that ITS PEOPLE extend to nations around the globe — well, I think America is still a great nation, one to be proud of.
Sorry, I’ve gone on too long.
Thank you again for standing up for what is right and for bravely telling the truth. I hope that when MY time comes to be counted, that I will be brave as well. I’m from Texas originally, so I’ve got that wild and ornery Texas streak in me, so I think I will manage.

i am happy to hear that your moms is feeling better. i have already recovered from the swine flu as well…no thanks to the health care industry. my wife and i do not have insurance because of pre-existing conditions and the prohibitive costs. please help your constituents. reach across the aisle and find compromise that helps the american citizens and not big business.
