Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) today celebrated the groundbreaking for a biomass generation plant in his district. Congressman Wilson joined U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Ameresco’s CEO George Sakellaris, and other elected officials to watch as ground was broken on the largest energy efficiency project in the federal government’s history.
“Today, Aiken became home to the largest energy efficiency project in our nation’s history. The state-of-the-art renewable energy facility is a $795 million project that will create jobs in our state while reducing air emissions and energy and water consumption nationwide.
“I want to thank Energy Secretary Chu and Ameresco’s CEO George Sakellaris for the implementation of a public-private partnership that will benefit both the environment and the economy,” said Congressman Joe Wilson.
