ONTROVERSIAL SC CONGRESSMAN CHOSEN BY GOP LEADERSHIP FOR ESCORT COMMITTEE

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was in Washington Tuesday to speak to a joint session of Congress and standing by her side on the way in was South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson.

Wilson, who infamously shouted “you lie” at President Barack Obama during the last joint session of Congress, was chosen by Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio as part of Merkel’s escort committee.

This honor is particularly special to me because I admire Chancellor Merkel’s capable and strong leadership for the German people and the world community.

“Chancellor Merkel grew up under the communism of East Germany and now she assumes the post of chancellor of the unified Germany,” Wilson said. “I’m confident she will continue to inspire and lead towards greater prosperity with conservative principles.”

Unlike in September, Wilson didn’t make national news during the event.

Instead it was Merkel who get all the attention for lecturing the United States on climate change. Oh boy…
