There Must Be Transparency in Health Care Debate
by Joe Wilson on January 7, 2010Dear friend,
We were promised that the health care debate would be transparent and open to the public. President Obama gave us his word. But the American people have been systematically shut out of the process.
This week, C-SPAN sent a letter to Congressional leaders to ask that all hearings and meetings about the health care bill be broadcast on television in their entirety. The American people deserve nothing less.
I’ve started a petition to support C-SPAN’s call for the health care debate to be televised in its entirety. Will you take a few minutes today to sign it, then ask your friends and family to join you in demanding transparency in this process?
This health care bill will radically change our health care system and have a deep and lasting impact on our economy and freedom. The American people deserve to know what is in this bill, and have a say when it comes time for the final vote.
Speaker Pelosi recently said that there has “never been a more open process” than the current health care debate. But you and I know that isn’t true. Throughout this process, President Obama and his fellow Liberal Democrats in Congress have held closed-door meetings, votes in the middle of the night and refused to post the bill online for the people to read.
These are just more examples of how Washington doesn’t get it and it needs to stop.
Please, sign the petition below and demand that Congress let the C-SPAN cameras in to provide transparency in the health care debate.
Stand up and speak out.
Sincerely,
Joe Wilson
U.S. Representative
P.S. C-SPAN’s call for health care negotiations to be broadcast on television is not only common sense – it is what we were promised. Sign my petition today supporting C-SPAN’s call for televised health care discussion.
