• 70 GOP Health Bills Presented, Dems Won’t Listen To People

So much for bipartisanship. On an earlier blog post we pondered the question of a real debate or a dog and pony show. Now we have the answer.

President Obama spent more time talking than the rest of the Republicans at the so-called “bipartisan health care summit.”

There’s a big bottom line right now, jobs. On the recent Joe Means Jobs tour, the message from small business owners and workers was clear; do something about the bad economy. Close to 15 million Americans are out of work and a government-run health system that will be a job killer is not the answer.

Poll after poll shows the American people do not want government running health care. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/obama_and_democrats_health_care_plan-1130.html

Folks on both side of the aisle can admit improvements can be made in the current system without scrapping it all together. Issues like limiting malpractice lawsuits, allowing insurance to be bought across state lines and small business insurance buying pools are things that can garner support from both parties.

Thursday President Obama accused Republicans of using “props,” when they simply had the 2000-plus page Obama health bill sitting on the table. But the facts are clear, Republicans have offered up 70 different health care bills to the Washington liberal majority.

Now we’re hearing that Democrats may try to ram through health care with a simple 51 vote majority in the Senate. South Carolinians do not want backroom deals, “Cornhusker Kickbacks,” “Louisiana Purchases,” and we don’t want something rammed through when the majority of Americans are against it.
