Tuesday February 16 was much more than Mardi Gras to Congressman Joe Wilson. Today Joe Wilson was all business, kicking off his Joe Means Jobs tour online and on the phone.

Joe first chatted with constituents during a live webchat, answering questions about jobs and the economy via questions submitted on the new www.JoeMeansJobs.com website.  The Congressman addressed important issues affecting the economy like taxes, energy costs and out-of-control government spending.  If you missed it, don’t worry, the recorded version is on JoeMeansJobs.com!

The Congressman then took to the phone for a tele-town hall, which attracted nearly ten-thousand participants who could listen and ask questions of Rep. Wilson in real-time.   Hearing directly from his constituents, Joe played host, taking calls, answering questions and even recalling past memories in the many small towns in throughout the South Carolina’s Second District.  Sticking to his campaign theme of being accessible and accountable, Joe enjoys taking to the new media and hearing directly from the people.

Congressman Wilson will be on the road the next few days, visiting the people of the Second District on the Joe Means Jobs tour.  From a lumber processing plant to serving up lunch at Wendy’s, Joe Means Jobs throughout the second district.  Check out www.JoeMeansJobs.com to see where you can meet up with Joe Wilson in person!

Joe, I am unemployed AGAIN! I am 57 years old and have been laid off several times over the past few years. I have been doing Customer Service for 20 years and was at the top of the pay scale. I would like to go back to school and get my teaching degree but I can’t afford it. I don’t qualify for Pell Grant because they look back at my earnings when I was working. I don’t want to borrow $50,000 for school when I can’t work long enough to justify paying off that kind of loan amount. I already have 47 hours or the cost would be much higher. I wish there was education helps for people over 50 who still have a lot to give the world but not enough time left to pay for it!
Thanks for all you do for our great country. I wish I could help you financially, but words of thanks are all I have to give at this time.
