Joe Wilson opens campaign headquarters in W. Columbia
by Joe Wilson on February 9, 2010Republican Congressman Joe Wilson and Democratic Challenger Rob Miller are already waging an expensive, high-profile campaign that’s gone national almost a year out from the November election.
Joe Wilson is spending some of his money opening a new campaign headquarters.
Wilson raised more than $400,000 in the final three months of 2009, bring his total to almost $3.5 million.
Rob Miller raised almost $225,000 in the last quarter, bringing his total to just over $2 million.
Wilson says he’s getting ready for a tough election.
“The thought of forcing me to campaign, I will do it,” said Representative Joe Wilson. “I enjoy being with the people, I appreciate them. I’m very grateful for them, I will not take anything for granted.”
Wilson and Miller have been spending money almost as quickly as they raise it. The two burned through a combined $835,000 last quarter, at a time when most campaigns were barely off the ground. That’s nearly 20 times what they spent in the same period two years ago.
