• Veteran Public Servants Join Campaign to Bring SC Values & Reform to DC

    Lyman Whitehead and Dr. Barbara Nielsen to Co-Chair the Campaign.

    (West Columbia, SC) – Dedication to the Second District is something Joe Wilson lives by daily. Guided by service, Joe has chosen two dedicated public servants to co-chair his 2010 Congressional campaign which seeks to bring more jobs to South Carolina and needed change to Washington, DC.

    Lyman Whitehead of Lexington County and Dr. Barbara Nielsen of Beaufort County will co-chair Joe’s campaign.

    “I’ve known Joe before he was even in law school and before he married Roxanne,” Whitehead said. “We’ve worked together for the betterment of South Carolina for a long time now.”

    Dr. Nielsen is a two term State Superintendent of Education with a long history of seeking government reform and accountability in South Carolina.

    “I think three things that describe Joe are, he is principled, he is extremely accessible to his constituents, and he truly cares about the people in his district and in our country,” Dr. Nielsen said.

    “I am greatful to Lyman and Barbara for standing with me to bring real reforms to Washington and create more jobs in South Carolina.” Joe Wilson said.

    About Dr. Barbara Nielsen:

    Served 8 years as SC State Superintendent of Education
    Helped establish first statewide full-day kindergarten in South Carolina
    Helped develop and pass legislation creating South Carolina’s first charter schools
    30 year career as teacher, administrator and educational consultant.
