Joe’s time before the group started with a quick live 7pm interview on NBC Augusta with reporter Christine O’Donnell.  Joe spoke of his Siding With America’s Patients (SWAP) act, which would repeal the recently passed government run health plan and replace it with real health care reforms.  Joe’s legislation will continue to cover pre-existing conditions but will repeal the tax hikes and unaffordable mandates on individuals and small business owners.

Joe made a strong emphasis on the need to elect conservative candidates at all levels of government who respect the constitution and the need to cap the growth in government.

After speaking about the SWAP act, Joe took questions from the audience.  When asked about the distrust of many media outlets, Joe suggested people rely on groups like the South Carolina Policy Council and Heritage Foundation.

During an interview with NBC Augusta’s Christine O’Donnell, Joe took on the topic of the government-run health care plan head on.  “Everyday more and more information comes out about this government takeover, and the more information people get, the more the American people don’t like the plan,” Wilson said.  Joe told NBC Augusta common sense ideas like allowing people to buy insurance across state lines and giving incentives to small businesses for health plans make the foundation of his SWAP act.

Keeping with his theme of accessibility, Joe also took questions from the Aiken Standard’s Rob Novit and Augusta Chronicle’s Julia  Sellers on his SWAP act and also touched on the need for tax cuts to boost the economy.

Following the We The People meeting, Joe headed to downtown Aiken to meet with constituents at the Aiken County Republican Party’s monthly meeting.
