NEW EVIDENCE THAT JOE WILSON’S STIMULUS AUDIT IS NEEDED

New report by ABC News shows millions of taxpayer dollars wasted, while unemployment keeps rising after so-called “stimulus” spending plan was passed.

(West Columbia, S.C.) – Today there’s new proof that Joe Wilson’s call for an immediate audit of the so-called “stimulus” spending plan is desperately needed.

This morning, ABC News reported up to hundreds of millions of dollars are being squandered with very little to show for it.  The ABC report showed a stimulus project for a park visitor’s center that has been closed for several years.

The report also highlighted BP receiving $175 million in stimulus funds for a power plant in California were construction won’t even begin until two years from now.  Is that “shovel ready?”

Joe Wilson is proposing a bipartisan 10 member panel to investigate how many jobs have actually been saved or created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The panel would also look at how those those jobs were saved or created and examine measures to prevent improper payment of government funds.

STIMULUS WASTE FOUND BY ABC NEWS:

    -          Up to $20 million on signs to promote stimulus across America.

    -          $10,000 on 1 road sign to promote a Dulles, VA stimulus project.

    -          $71,623 to fund a study “Monkeys Getting High for Science”

    -          $300,000 to study internal yoga.

    -          $15-million spent to create 17 jobs for a Dulles, VA airport runway project.

Perhaps a further example of the failure of the stimulus is the admission by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner that the unemployment rate could keep going up.  Geithner acknowledged this on ABC’s Good Morning America on Tuesday morning.

During his ongoing Joe Means Jobs tour, Joe Wilson is traveling throughout the Second District, meeting with small business owners and workers.  Joe is discussing free-market ways to get people back to work, including tax cuts and repealing the government healthcare takeover and replacing it with real reforms.
