Making $100 Billion in Spending Cuts
by Joe Wilson on February 15, 2011Over the past few years, we have witnessed some of the greatest economic atrocities ever committed by members of our government. Reckless spending resulted in a spiraling national debt that will be passed on to future generations. However, the new conservative majority in the House of Representatives was able to make a first step towards setting our nation on the right path.
Last week, we emerged from an emergency meeting with a new budget plan that would achieve cuts of $100 billion. These cuts would not come years later in small chunks; rather, this budget would go into effect immediately. The current economic crisis is so urgent that we simply cannot wait for changes to appear over time.
This new budget plan includes $84 billion in domestic discretionary savings and $16 billion in defense cuts, which will not in any way affect the troops on the ground. While the liberals in Washington would still like to spend more taxpayer money on bailouts, we were able to formulate a plan that cuts the most spending our nation has seen since World War II.
Our budget proposal will be presented on the House floor this week, where it will be debated and examined more closely. After years of government recklessness, this new bill is a confident step in the right direction. I am dedicated to put this era of big government to an end and solve our country’s debt crisis. Thank you for you continued support and prayers.
Sincerely,
Joe Wilson
