Wilson releases statement on Pawlenty endorsement
by Joe Wilson on June 10, 2011Former Minn. Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been enjoying a nice 24 hours. With the implosion of former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich’s campaign, one of Pawlenty’s main challengers is being forced to the sidelines. As well, former Gingrich state chairman for Georgia, Gov. Sonny Perdue, has joined the Pawlenty team. Then there was the announcement this morning that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson has thrown his support to the Minnesotan.
In an email released to his supporters both in South Carolina and across the country, Wilson said:
These times call for strong principled, conservative leadership. That’s why today, I’m honored to announce that I’m endorsing Tim Pawlenty for President. As Governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty built a conservative record in a state that is politically tough for Republicans. His bold vision for America’s future and strong leadership are what we need to defeat Barack Obama and get our nation’s economy back on track.
Governor Pawlenty is the best man to get our nation back on the right track.
I’m honored to serve as the South Carolina Co-Chair for Governor Pawlenty’s Presidential Campaign. Pawlenty has an aggressive economic plan that will tackle the national debt, cut big-government red tape, and create jobs. Governor Pawlenty shares my conservative belief that we need to get the government out of the way and put people back to work.
Working alongside other conservative leaders I’ll continue to fight Washington Liberals and their job-killing agenda. I invite you to join me in supporting Governor Pawlenty as we work to get our nation back on track. In order to run a winning campaign, Governor Pawlenty needs our financial support. I ask you to please contribute what you can today.
