Remembering 9/11
by Joe Wilson on September 11, 2011On September 11, 2001, our nation changed forever. We all remember where we were on that September morning, but many of us have forgotten the unity that occurred after that day.
We were united in our grief because it was time to grieve. In our anger because there was cause for anger. In our compassion for those who died. In our love for this nation. In our desire to never let another attack occur to us or future generations. In our pride for the men and women of the military.
My sons have spent time fighting overseas. I’m proud that they were willing to go into harm’s way to help their country and so grateful to God that they came home.
However, I know many families in South Carolina and across the United States who cannot say the same. As we remember those who died on September 11th, those at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the rescue teams, and the passengers of United Flight 93, may we also remember our fallen soldiers.
Let us be united in our thankfulness for the men and women who gave all for this country. Let us be united in respect and appreciation for the soldiers who serve across the globe and are prepared for whatever it costs to defend America.
Sincerely,
Joe Wilson
US Congressman
